• April 1 - 8, 2005 -- The National Specialty in Perry, GA -- Wow!! Cosmo did well in all of his classes, but this was the year of his kids and grandkids!
  • Almost 10-year-old Cosmo, Ch. SR SHR U-CDX U-AGI Blazin's Back O' The Moon UD JH AX NAP NJP WCX CGC TT HOF (Major x. Ravin), was only entered in breed and obedience classes this year, and he placed or qualified in all of them! 3rd place in Veteran Sweepstakes 9-11 Years under Kurt Anderson; 2nd place in Working Retriever Dogs and 4th place in Stud Dogs under Nancy Liebes; and 187.5 in Veterans Obedience, just out of the ribbons after a mad dash from the Stud Dog class. Cosmo was handled in Sweeps and Working by Dawn and in obedience by Melody. In Stud Dogs, Marty handled Cosmo while Dawn handled Eagle and Melody handled Snicker.

  • Cosmo's littermate Starlet, Ch. Blazin's Brightest Star CGC TDI (Major x. Ravin), owned by Renee Decker (ME) and handled by Dawn, placed 2nd in Veteran Sweeps 9-11 Year Bitch class!

  • 19-month-old Murphy, Flatford's Eddie Murphy JH *WCX* CGC (Cosmo x. Bonus repeat), owner handled by Cindy Tupla (WA), placed 2nd in the Derby field trial stake and earned 3 Derby points on Friday! On Saturday, Murphy earned his first Senior Hunter leg! And on Sunday, Murphy earned both his Working Certificate and Working Certificate Excellent and also won the Steady Singles Championship! As the 2005 Singles Champion, Murphy will be invited to the Ring of Honor every year for the rest of his life. What an awesome accomplishment for this young dog and his owner!

  • Of the final 10 bitch specials in the Best of Breed ring, three were Cosmo daughters (Snicker, Sky and DeeDee) and one was his granddaughter Shayla! Snicker and Shayla went on to win JAM's in Best of Breed!
    • 4-year-old Snicker, Ch. Claymore's Live, Love, Laugh NAP NJP O-NAC S-NJC NGC TN-O CGC Can. AGN (Liver female, Cosmo x. Katie), owned by Linda and Les Conrad (MN) and handled by Melody, won a Judge's Award of Merit in Best of Breed competition! Snicker and her half brother Eagle also helped their dad Cosmo win 4th place in Stud Dog class. Thanks to Linda and Les Conrad for allowing me to show Snicker at another Specialty!

    • 2-year-old Sky, Ch. Salasana Blazin Arrow (Cosmo x. Ronja), owned by Blazin Kennels (MD) and handled by Dawn, made most of the cuts in Best of Breed competition!

    • 19-month-old DeeDee, Ch. Flatford's Comic Relief *WC* (Cosmo x. Bonus repeat), bred and owned by Mary and Marv Farwell (IL), also made most of the cuts in Best of Breed handled by Todd Farwell, and along with her older full sister Abbie, helped their mom Bonus place 4th in Brood Bitches! DeeDee also earned her Working Certificate and her first Junior Hunter leg!

    • 17-month-old Shayla, Ch. Shalyn Not Just A Pretty Face CGC (Dino x. Reggae), breeder/owner handled by Sherri Lilley (VA), won a JAM in Best of Breed! Shayla was in the final four (2 dogs, 2 bitches) considered by the judge for Best of Breed and Best of Opposite! Shayla also won the Brace class with her mother Reggae, and placed 2nd in her Puppy Sweepstakes class, and qualified in Novice B obedience; and along with her sister Lily, helped their mom Reggae place 2nd in Brood Bitches!

  • Also making cuts in Best of Breed class:
    • 4-year-old China, Ch. TLC Agape's Treasure Chest NAJ CGC (Cosmo x. Ashley), breeder/owner handled by Sue Van Buren (NY), made several cuts in Best of Breed. China also picked up her 2nd Novice Standard agility leg at the Specialty!

    • 4-year-old Chance, Ch. TLC Carry The Torch Chance CD CGC (Cosmo x. Ashley), owned by Judy Riedel (CT), made the cut in Best of Breed! Thanks, Judy, for letting me take Chance in the ring at the Specialty!

    • 2-year-old Eagle, Ch. Salasana Double Arrow CGC (Cosmo x. Ronja), owned by Blazin Kennels (MD) and handled by Dawn, made the cut in Best of Breed, and with his half sister Snicker helped their dad Cosmo win 4th place in Stud Dog class!

  • 4-year-old Reggae, Ch. SR TLC Shalyn Rhythm O' The Island CD OA NAJ NAP WC CGC (Cosmo x. Ashley), owned, trained and handled by Sherri Lilley (VA), earned an Irondog Award by winning ribbons in breed, field, obedience, and agility! Reggae earned her second Junior Hunter leg, passed the WC and earned a JAM in Unsteady Singles A in the field. Then she won the Excellent A 24" Standard agility class and qualified in Novice B obedience. In breed, she placed 3rd in Working Retriever Bitches, won the Brace class with daughter Shayla, and placed 2nd in Brood Bitches with Shayla and Lily! Reggae's breeder Sue Van Buren handled Reggae in the Brood Bitch class while Sherri handled Shayla and Anne Fisher owner handled Lily.

  • Cosmo's 17-month-old granddaughter Lily, Shalyn's Wildwood Flower CGC (Dino x. Reggae), owned, trained and handled by Anne Fisher (VA), won the Novice A obedience class! Lily also helped her mom Reggae place 2nd in Brood Bitches!

  • 2-year-old Abbie, Ch. Flatford's Summer Skyline JH *WC* CGC (Cosmo x. Bonus), owned by Laura Fordice (WA) and Mary Farwell and handled by Laura, earned her first Senior Hunter leg and her Working Certificate! Abbie, along with younger full sister DeeDee, helped their mom Bonus place 4th in Brood Bitches!

  • 3-year-old Blue, *Ch.* TLC Bluemoon's Starlite CD JH *WC* (Cosmo x. Ashley repeat), owned by Ed Miley (NY) and Sue Van Buren, earned his Working Certificate and placed 2nd in Bred By Exhibitor Dogs, breeder/owner handled by Sue! Sue and Blue stopped off in Charlotte NC on the way home to finish his Championship!

  • 3-year-old Crystal, TLC Starlite's First Gleaming CGC (Cosmo x. Ashley repeat), owned by Margaret and Terry Uminsky (NY) and Sue Van Buren, was owner handled by Margarget and placed 4th in American Bred Bitches and placed 4th in Novice A obedience!

  • 16-month-old Jedi, Whazthat's Across The Stars (Liver male, Cosmo x. Reba), bred and owned by Jeanne Allen (OR), placed 4th in his Puppy Sweepstakes class and placed 3rd in the regular 12-18 Month class! Thanks to Jeanne for letting me show him, and to her great friends who drove him all the way across the country for the Specialty!

  • 2-year-old littermates Connor, Am./Int'l. Ch. Jettaway's Seventh Heaven, and Luke, Ch. Jettaway's Northern Lights (Cosmo x. Willow), bred and owned by Heidi and Jon Ellefson (WI), helped their mom Willow make the cut in Brood Bitches! Jon handled Willow while Melody handled Connor and Heidi handled Luke. Willow also placed in the 9-11 Year bitch class!

  • 19-month-old Bette, Flatford Divine Miss M (Cosmo x. Bonus repeat), owned by Andrea and Charles Kane and Mary Farwell (IL), made the cut in Open Bitches!

  • Cosmo's 10-month-old granddaughter Salem, Blazin's History Repeats (Eagle x. Prue), owned by Blazin Kennels and handled by Marty, made the cut in both her Puppy Sweeps class, and in the Bred By Exhibitor class!

  • Ribbons or not, I was very proud of all the kids and grandkids who were at the Specialty! It sure was fun!!
